Almost since I started reporting on the global beer beat, I’ve thought it would be a great idea to organize a European beer cruise, sailing down one of the continent’s great rivers and stopping and sampling terrific beer from a multitude of countries along the way. And now, finally, I’m very happy to say that I’ve done it!

Good point, Knut. I tend to use “down” colloquially, but you’re quite right, of course, that the Rhine actually flows from Switzerland to the North Sea.

Wow, this is bizarre. Just last week, my wife and I were looking at 2010 vacation plans and were considering this type of a European trip…different company. This puts our planning on a whole new course, literally and figuratively…thanks for the info.
